Our commitment to making 1-800GetConnected.com usable for everyone.
Our goal
We want everyone to be able to use 1-800GetConnected.com, including people who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, screen magnifiers, voice control or other assistive technology. Our goal is for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.
What we’ve done
- A “Skip to main content” link appears at the top of every page when you press Tab.
- Visible focus outlines on navigation links, buttons and form fields, so keyboard users can see where they are.
- A Pause / Play button on background videos. If your device is set to reduce motion, background videos don’t play at all.
- Text and button colors checked for contrast, and form fields with labels, required-field markings and error messages that screen readers announce.
- Headings, landmarks and descriptive text for images, so pages make sense when read aloud.
- We test key pages with the automated axe accessibility checker and fix the issues it finds in our own code.
Third-party content and known limits
Some features come from other companies and are outside our direct control:
- Chat assistant (ElevenLabs): the chat widget is provided by ElevenLabs. Automated tests flag some color-contrast and page-landmark issues inside the widget that we can’t change. You can always reach us by phone or email instead.
- Google reCAPTCHA: some forms use reCAPTCHA to stop spam. If a reCAPTCHA check is hard to complete, please call or email us and we’ll take your request directly.
- Client portal (FreshBooks): invoices, estimates and payments are handled on FreshBooks’ own site.
- Scrolling logo bars: some pages show a moving row of brand logos. We’re working on adding a pause control.
Automated testing can’t find every barrier, and we keep reviewing the site as we add content.
