Quick fix
Use a mount rated for your TV’s size and weight that matches its VESA hole pattern, fasten it into wall studs (or proper masonry anchors), and mount at a comfortable viewing height. Plan power and cables before drilling.
Step by step
Check the TV specs
Find the weight and VESA hole pattern in the TV’s manual or on the manufacturer’s website.
Choose the mount
Fixed, tilting or full-motion. Make sure it’s rated for your TV’s weight and size and matches the VESA pattern.
Find the studs
Use a stud finder and secure the mount into wood studs. For brick or concrete, use masonry anchors made for the load. Don’t rely on drywall alone.
Pick the height
A common guideline is to put the center of the screen near eye level when you’re seated. Be cautious about mounting high above a fireplace; it’s uncomfortable to watch and heat can be an issue.
Plan power and cables
Decide where the outlet, cable box, soundbar and streaming device go. In-wall power kits made for TVs are safer than running a regular extension cord inside the wall.
Use two people
Lifting and hanging the TV is a two-person job. Check that it’s locked onto the mount before letting go.
